ISPO Certificate for PT TBPP

The 2017 International Conference on Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (IC-ISPO) was held on 11-12 April 2017 at Cendrawasih Hall 1 Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto – Jakarta to signify the cooperation between the ISPO commission and the Plantation Media. One of the events on the agenda for the opening of the meeting was the presentation of ISPO certificates for companies, plasma plantations, and independent oil palm plantations by the Director General of Plantations. The ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 10.45 – 11.45 WIB.

Forty companies, plasma plantations, and oil palm independent plantations received ISPO certificates, one of which is PT. Tanjung Buyu Perkasa Plantation- a subsidiary of Teladan Prima Agro (TPA). ISPO Certificate recipient PT Tanjung Buyu Perkasa Plantation (PT TBPP) represented by Mr. Yayan Handian Ginanjar as the Head of Plantation Division. The certificate was handed by the Director of TÜV Rheinland witnessed by the Head of the ISPO Commission and the Director General of Plantations. With this certification received in 2017, PT TBPP officially is an integrated palm oil company (Plantation and Mill) that received ISPO certification.

As a form of the company’s commitment to meeting ISPO certification requirements, Teladan Prima Agro (TPA) invested ample of time and resources to ensure a complete integration in internal work processes, policy formulation, and work programs. The study was conducted throughout the year by collecting information from various sources that are relevant for decision making, as well as internal monitoring involving all parties to ensure compliance with ISPO as Indonesia’s national sustainability platform.

ISPO certification is an important milestone in the sustainability journey of Teladan Prima Agro (TPA), especially PT TBPP, because this certification provides certainty for customers and stakeholders regarding the company’s legality and compliance with mills, plantations, and supply chain requirements. This alignment can strengthen the company’s position to achieve other internationally recognized sustainability standards such as the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification).

This award is not only a success in obtaining certification, but is also part of efforts to increase support for the only mandatory certification platform in Indonesia, namely ISPO. Through ISPO, the stakeholders of the palm oil industry work together to accelerate the achievement of sustainable palm oil production. ISPO is an obligation (mandatory) for all business actors in plantation development activities in Indonesia.

In addition to focusing on helping the company’s suppliers implement better social and environmental practices, PT TBPP under Teladan Prima Agro (TPA) and other palm oil companies also participated in various discussion forums with the Government of Indonesia to discuss the importance of increasing ISPO visibility globally.
