Jakarta: PT Teladan Prima Agro Tbk (TLDN), through its five subsidiaries, has received the Zero Accident Award for 2023 from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenaker RI). This achievement represents the occupational health and safety (K3) performance of TLDN’s subsidiary entities from January 2, 2020, to December 31, 2022.
The five TLDN subsidiaries that have received the Zero Accident 2023 award are:
- PT Tanjung Buyu Perkasa Plantation – Talisayan Mill
- PT Telen – Pangadan Baay Mill and Bukit Permata Mill
- PT Telen Prima Sawit – Muara Bengkal Mill
- PT Cahaya Anugerah Plantation – Feliza Mill
- PT Multi Jayantara Abadi – Tanjung Harapan Mill
Thus, all TLDN’s palm oil processing mills have received the Zero Accident 2023 award from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. The award was presented by Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Ida Fauziyah, accompanied by the Director-General for the Supervision of Manpower and Occupational Safety and Health of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Haiyani Rumondang, to the companies through the Provincial Government (Pemprov) during the K3 2023 Awarding Event held in Jakarta on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia for awarding the Zero Accident 2023 to the five TLDN subsidiaries. This achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire management and employees of the company in upholding the aspects of occupational health and safety. We are committed to continue prioritizing workers’ rights regarding safety and health,” said Wishnu Wardhana, CEO of TLDN, on Sunday (June 25, 2023).
Yayan Handian Ginanjar, Director of Sustainability at TLDN, also mentioned that TLDN continues to make efforts to fulfill occupational health and safety for its workers, as it is the company’s responsibility as an employer. Yayan stated that one of TLDN’s initial efforts to protect employees from occupational health and safety risks is by conducting hazard identification, risk assessment, and control determination through a series of proactive and preventive processes. Subsequently, the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (P2K3) will report on the evaluation to the relevant manpower and occupational health and safety authorities in the respective regions every three months.
The performance of the occupational health and safety policy is reflected in the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety program within the company’s culture. To achieve continuous improvement, periodic occupational health and safety performance evaluations are conducted. These evaluations are carried out through occupational health and safety audits included in the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) audits, with a minimum frequency of once a year. Based on these evaluations, technical and system improvements are implemented to establish a sustainable occupational health and safety culture.
TLDN implements the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Determining Control (HIRADC) method internally as part of the company’s efforts to fulfill occupational health and safety. HIRADC is the realization of Government Regulation (PP) Number 50 of 2012 concerning Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (SMK3), which stipulates that companies must identify hazards, assess risks, and determine hazard controls.
On the other hand, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah stated that the government continuously encourages company management to consistently implement occupational safety and health management systems as required by the applicable laws and regulations. By doing so, occupational health and safety can be embedded in every individual’s role within the company, thereby enhancing workforce productivity.
“If we make occupational health and safety a culture, then, God willing, our productivity will increase. Over the past few years, these efforts have shown positive results, with an increasing number of companies maintaining a zero accident record every year. We hope that this achievement in occupational health and safety will motivate company leaders to maintain their K3 performance because occupational health and safety is an investment in maintaining business sustainability and enhancing company productivity,” said Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Ida Fauziyah, during the K3 2023 Awarding Event in Jakarta on Thursday (June 22, 2023).
Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia added that implementing occupational health and safety within the framework of principles and fundamental rights in the workplace proves that the Indonesian Government continues to support and actively participate in the International Labour Organization (ILO). Ida Fauziyah mentioned that occupational health and safety aspects have been approved as resolutions in the 110th International Labour Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2022.
It is worth mentioning that before receiving the Zero Accident 2023 award from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, the five TLDN subsidiaries had also received a similar award from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov) on June 10, 2023. In addition, six factories under TLDN’s supervision also received the Environmental Management Performance Rating Program (Proper) 2023 award from the Governor of East Kalimantan. The award includes four green rankings and two blue rankings.
